FAQ
01
I don’t want anyone to know I’m even thinking of selling! How will you protect my confidentiality?
Hey, we get it! You don’t want to rock the boat before you’re ready. For that reason, we have participants sign a confidentiality agreement in advance of attendance. Further, you will have the option to hide your identity in session if you wish. If owners who may be competitors in the same industry and market enroll in the same cohort, we’ll work with you in advance of the first session to identify the conflict and move enrollment if needed..
02
I’m not even sure if I want to sell my business. What value would I get from this?
The main objective of the mastermind is to give you the knowledge you need to make that decision. The simple fact is a company that is sellable is also a company that is easier to manage, more profitable, and less in control of you. Maybe you’ll decide you don’t want to sell, or you want to pass it down to your kids, or you’re fine with closing the doors when you’re ready to move on. All of those choices are legitimate and none are better than the others. We help you determine what freedom means to you and how you plan to achieve it.
03
What’s a “mastermind” anyway?
A mastermind is a small group of people with the same goal in mind who meet for facilitated sessions where they learn and discuss a specific topic. Open discussion amongst peers is one of the primary benefits, so participation is key
04
What if something comes up and I have to miss a session?
Because participants consider these conversations highly confidential, we don’t publish recordings of the sessions. In addition, it’s the peer conversations themselves that provide huge value, so we hope you can prioritize attendance. We do understand that you’re running a business and things will come up, so if you do have to miss a session, contact your facilitator for a summary of the conversation.
05
What if the posted sessions don’t fit my schedule?
We start a mastermind each month and vary the time. Check back to see the schedule of future sessions or reach out to discuss options that are right for you.
06
What if I’m ready to start the work to make my business sellable?
Good news! We specialize in helping owners build and realize the value of their business using the proven Value Builder System – a systematic approach to building a sellable business. Reach out to discuss that process when you’re ready.
In 2015 a friend handed me a copy of a book called Built to Sell. I finished it on a flight back from a conference and ordered two more copies for my business partners from the tarmac when we landed. I told them, “Read this. We’re doing this.” We put the principles in action and were staring in awe at a term sheet less than three years later.
