That’s me at 7:45am on October 29, 2018. I was the first one in the room (usually not my style) and I asked our attorney if we could use their board room because while only needed six chairs, this was the biggest day of my life. It seemed fitting. As my partners, and our buyer, and the attorneys filed in for closing on the sale of my first business my thoughts roamed, my heart raced, and my palms were clammy. (Not ideal for the hand shakes…) What happened next was surprisingly easy – we passed around papers I had read 1,000 times and signed our names in blue ink (about 1,000 times). A quick phone call was made. I logged into our bank account and stared at the collected balance. F5 (refresh), F5 (refresh), and POOF! It was done.
I had achieved what most of my colleagues won’t – the freedom to choose whatever I want to do next. It was hard and I made plenty of mistakes. That’s why I started Matheson LLC and TEHL Advisors. I want to help business owners prepare for and achieve their own freedom.

James Matheson
James is passionate about helping business owners understand, build, and realize the value of their business. He achieves this through his work as a business coach, educator, and intermediary. James is a licensed business intermediary with VR Business Brokers Twin Cities. He co-founded Network Medics, Inc., an IT managed services provider (MSP) which he built and ultimately sold in 2018. He worked with the buyer to complete integration and was later promoted into a corporate development role. James has served on several non-profit boards and works with undergraduates one-on-one as a mentor. He is an alum of Gustavus Adolphus College and was selected as an Emerging Leader by the U.S Small Business Administration. James loves to cook, makes pretty decent cocktails, and can help you choose a good bottle of wine.
